![]() | Transitions in earlier versions of PowerPoint |
When you apply transitions to a presentation in PowerPoint 2011, they may not display as expected if you open the presentation in PowerPoint 2008 or earlier.
Some of the transitions available in PowerPoint 2011 are not supported in earlier versions. When PowerPoint does not support or recognize a transition, a default transition is used instead. The default transition in PowerPoint 2008 is Fade, and the default transition in PowerPoint 2004 is Cut.
![]() | Note To find transitions in your presentation that are not compatible with earlier versions, on the View menu, click Compatibility Report. Click Check Document, and then click a result to select the incompatible item in the presentation. |
When you apply a transition in PowerPoint 2011 and then open the presentation in an earlier version, PowerPoint substitutes the default transition for the following:
Box
Clock (Counterclockwise effect only)
Conveyor
Cube
Doors
Droplet
Ferris Wheel
Flash
Flip
Fly Through
Gallery
Glitter
Honeycomb
Orbit
Pan
Reveal
Ripple
Rotate
Shred
Switch
Vortex (except the From Top-Right effect)
Window
Zoom
![]() | Note PowerPoint 2011 and PowerPoint 2008 both have transitions called Cube and Flip; however, they only display as expected in the version in which they are applied. |
